Firewall has randomly started blocking GW
Ok, so yesterday I was on GW and my internet shut down, and did all night (from roughly 8GMT till I went to bed at 4:30AM GMT). I'm at University so it's a shared connection on a network. I led in bed this morning and somebody down the corridor mentioned that he hadn't had the internet since yesterday either, so I was kind of relieved as I thought it was just me.
On with the story.
I switch my computer on when I awoke to find my internet connection is fine, meaning I can browse the internet, also applications such as MSN Messenger work too.
So, I launched GW to have a go, and when I tried to log in, it gave me an error, saying something along the lines of "GW can't connect to any of the log in servers, this could be down to an internal routing issue." So, I switch off my firewall, (I did check if GW had access through the firewall still, and it indeed did) and with the firewall off, GW worked fine and logged me in to the next screen, but I still can't access the game all of a sudden..
Why has this suddenly happened? I know these internet security suites update every so often, but my Zonealarm has an update that I've not upgraded to yet, so it couldn't and can't be that! Perhaps University has stopped gaming access, so I'll just have to wait and see what happens I guess.
GW is the only game I have at University and it keeps Mr Boredom away!
Any ideas?

It seems many people here are still having problems, for example, somebody upstairs from me has no internet, so it seems very randomized. I guess it's a problem with the network/router the University side, so I guess I feel lucky in a way that I have some sort of internet access, even though my beloved GW is down for the time being.

I have similar problems sometimes. The best solution for me was to just get my own internet connection.

Maybe port forwarding/triggering has been messed up and now you can't connect? My firewall has an auto rule to let 6112 in, since that's the GW connection port, but even after deleting the rule I was able to connect.

Zonealarm is kind of flakey sometimes, as suggested make sure all ports for GW are open. Or consider using another Firewall somewhere like Komodo or the build in Windows one.
Also I've noted your in the UK, so in a UK University. They tend to block things like games etc... may unit did all the freaking time.

I agree with RTSFirebat, drop ZoneAlarm and switch to Comodo. That will resolve a lot of issues.
